To sum up David in one word is would be that he just ROCKS! From the beginning David knows what he is doing. I ran a pretty tight time line. We saw properties, we made appropriate offers, we bought at a value price. David directed me to quality lenders. Everything was in order each step of the way. Then David paid for unit repairs out of his pocket that the seller refused to fix in order to get the deal done. Does anybody do that anymore in these times of instant gratification? As it turned out his timing was perfect and it led to the sale of my home on one of the most beautiful streets in Bucktown! I'm not sure how David landed in our laps for the sale of our condo, but I am so relieved he did! We had to short-sale our condo due to a job loss. David was instrumental in pulling off a successful, though looooong, sale. He worked tirelessly with the bank and the buyer to make sure we got the best deal we could. Not only was he great at his job, but he truly is one of the “good guys,” actually CARING about his clients. He recognized our unfortunate circumstance and was so very generous in working on our case, even offering to sacrifice some of his commission, to ensure we weren't squeezed to badly at the end of the deal. But her knowledge and understanding of the market paid off, and I wound up with a beautiful condo in Uptown.) Fast forward 10 years to 2018 when I was ready to sell. David Schatz was my main point of contact during the sale, and I couldn't ask for better, especially with me being out-of-state. David's understanding of the current market and trends helped me to price it right (testing market interest at a higher hoped-for price and then adjusting it as needed). He also coordinated staging and helped me find a great lawyer as well as hosting open houses and showings. You know those indecisive first-time buyers on HGTV shows that make you pity their agent? That was us with David. We were new to the city, couldn't decide on location, budget, anything…but David was the calming and information-filled agent that got us the perfect place. The first house we went under contract on had undisclosed water damage. While we fretted, David leveraged his connections to get quotes on repairs, handled the owners, and eventually suggested that we walk away when they wouldn't budge. He had our best interest at heart. Responsiveness and professionalism is the bare minimum when considering an agent. David will be a trusted partner, he helps you think through the pros and cons of the properties you will see and asks the insightful questions that get you thinking beyond prices/square feet and into what your life will be like in your new place. We cannot recommend David more highly. As first-time homebuyers, we were newbies to everything about buying a house and we would have been a bit lost without him. David was great in helping us learn about the market, the process, what to look for and what to look out for. He had a keen eye and helped us identify and avoid potential issues such as water in the basement, foundation issues, etc. For the house we eventually bought, he even noticed we did not have a key to the backdoor and bought a new lock for the seller to change out before we closed. He was very patient with all of our questions, and always responsive throughout the entire process. He never rushed or pressured us. David was also just a very friendly and warm guy and we enjoyed chatting with him and getting to know him during our house tours. He went above and beyond several times. For instance, David had to regularly speak directly with the seller about our asks during negotiations, instead of their realtor (typically we would be dealing with the seller’s realtor and not them directly) and he always had a good attitude about it despite the unusual circumstances. Finally, David also made great recommendations for other vendors we needed like inspectors, attorneys, etc. Overall he’s a fantastic partner during the home buying process and we recommend him very highly!

Joey was the consummate expert – and everything we needed in a guide to buying our first home. He was professional, prompt, available on the weekends and an absolute delight to work with to boot. We loved how transparent he was when it came to homes we weren't sure about – it never felt like he'd push us toward something that wasn't perfect. His patience was unrivaled as well, considering it took us a little longer than we thought to find a place. He coordinated everything from asking the sellers for extras we wanted to figuring out the mortgage/lending to guiding a couple newbies through the process in a clear and honest manner. I'd go with Joey again in a heartbeat and you should too.

I love workin with Joey, very honest person, creative , and lot of knowledge in construction he also help me with lot of the design in my home expending lot of his time that he didn’t have to, thanks to all his hard work and knowledge I was able to sale my house fast and close before new year to start a new project. Joey was very patient with us as we waffled back and forth on what we wanted for quite a while, until we ultimate found the right home for us, and he moved quickly to help get us a lower price than we would have even offered on our own. He has background in contracting, which came in handy when touring listings, as he could quickly ballpark costs for potential changes we were interested in making.

As a first-time home buyer, it was great to work with Joey. He went out of his way to explain the home-buying process to me and did all he could to make the endeavor as smooth as possible, including recommending a lender, inspector and attorney. We worked on finding a place for about one year and during that time he helped make an overwhelming process manageable.

Joey was a fantastic realtor, and helped us to buy a great house! We had very specific criteria for the house that we wanted (location, year built, first floor bedroom/bathroom, etc.), and Joey always found houses to show us that matched our criteria. He spent months showing us houses, including on weekends. He was very patient as we rejected house after house. We finally negotiated a deal on a house, went through inspection on the house, and everything looked like it was good to go. But then, less than a day and a half before the closing, the sellers informed us that they had a problem on their end, and so would not close. Joey calmly helped us navigate this situation with our attorney, even though the deal did not ultimately go through. Subsequently, we reopened our house search with Joey, and he again graciously and patiently spent many hours, again including weekends, finding and showing us houses that met our very specific criteria. In the end, he helped us find a great house, and we’ve had a great first few weeks living here! Joey was also very knowledgeable, and very responsive to all of our questions. I highly recommend him!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Joey. I was a first time buyer and Joey and his team were very responsive and accommodating. They scheduled all the properties I wanted to see and sent me all information prior to the visits. He guided me throughout the process and provided abundant information about buying a home for your first time and what to expect which was extremely helpful. He also provided connections for home inspectors and real estate attorneys to work with. Joey and his team were fantastic to work with from the beginning to the end! I would highly recommend!

I worked with Joey in purchasing my first house and he was easy to work with and was available at all times of the day to answer my questions. With a tight housing market, Joey showed me listings that were off market and brought great expertise to the home buying process. In the end, we ended up with a great place, in a great neighborhood. Joey and his team were excellent! Joey helped me buy my first condo in Chicago. I had never purchased a home but Joey and his team made it very easy for me. He lined up everyone that I never knew I needed for buying a place. He created a very supportive team for my buying and selling needs. Even after the purchase Joey was there to help whenever I had any questions or needs with the Condo. Then when it came time to sell a few years later due to relocation. Joey was there every step of the way. He made sure my condo was in prime selling condition and sold close to a week from putting it on the market. Joey delivers an excellent product and is very helpful in anything you could need in the buying or selling process. Even after you purchase the home he is very supportive of his clients, present and past.

Joey made the home buying process seamless and painless. He held our hand every step of the way, from touring homes to mortgage pre-approval to making offers to negotiating closing credits to conducting a home inspection. I was really happy to have his and his team's expertise and guidance throughout the sometimes stressful process, as this is my first home purchase. Joey was honest and thorough in his assessment of prospective properties, and was truly looking out for our best interests throughout the entire process. Joey was the ideal agent. He comes with a strong background in development and house flipping. He gave very pointed advice on the cost of renovations and even set up contractor introductions with the people he uses. I was lucky to find him and have already connected him with friends looking to buy houses. I highly recommend using him!

Joey was incredible to work with as I purchased my first home in Chicago. I was looking for an agent that had well-rounded experience, from representing buyers/sellers to contracting and flipping and Joey fit the bill perfectly. While Joey was extremely diligent and helpful during the home buying process, working with me every step of the way, his help after I closed was invaluable. Working with Joey was fantastic! When I reached out the week before Christmas that I was interested in buying, but that it could only happen if we made a tight (and frankly not particularly realistic) timeframe work, he didn’t hesitate. He spent time explaining the process and answering my questions, and then immediately scheduled showings for that weekend. I realize this is not the norm in this market, but we had an offer accepted on my top choice before Christmas. Joey was never pushy and provided honest advice when he thought a condo wasn’t worth the value. He was super responsive and answered all of my questions. He also skillfully negotiated with the seller to reduce the purchase price and obtain closing credits. I would highly recommend working with Joey!

We used Joey to both buy a house during the crazy housing market while also selling our condo in the city. Throughout the process, Joey and his team kept us involved, eased our anxiety, and negotiated to get us the best deal. Given his background, his opinion/expertise and connections have been invaluable to us as we were going through the buying process and now that we've gotten work completed on our fixer upper.
